Newcastle United have made enquiries into signing West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie.
The 29-year-old Nigerian hit 15 Premier League goals last season for the Baggies and has attracted interest from a host of leading clubs. Geordies manager Alan Pardew is ready to make the first move for Odemwingie and test Albions resolve with an offer of around £6million.
The rumour comes just days after it was reported that West Brom and Odemwingie are close to agreeing terms on a new contract. However in an interview with a local newspaper the striker did not close the door on a move away from the Hawthorns:
“It’s normal for players to have rumours about them, of course if I get an offer that pleases the club and myself I would take a look at it. But I’m not worried because I’m in a team where I am happy and playing well. I would think hard before leaving West Brom.”
